Green, Carole (October 13, 1941 - November 19, 2007)

Carole (Gile) Green, 66, died Monday, November 19, 2007, at her home in Eau Claire.

She was born October 13, 1941, in Black River Falls to Gibson and Eleanor Gile.

Carole had a yearning to learn. After being voted "Most likely to Succeed" by her high school class, she went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in library sciences at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She later completed a doctorate in tourism and hospitality at the University of Wisconsin-Stout (UW-Stout).

Carole was interested in learning about other cultures. She shared this interest with both her children and also worked for a time with the International Students Department of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She spent some time as a college professor, working both at UW-Stout and at the University of Saipan, teaching about tourism. In the 1990s she traveled to Indonesia, India and Europe. Carole loved the time she spent teaching and with her students.

Carole was a very involved and caring mother. She did a lot of work for the Association for High Potential Children while her children were growing. She also was a leader for a group of Campfire Girls, the Kicci Noca group of Eau Claire. In the mid-1980s, she took the girls to Washington, D.C., to present a million-link paper "peace chair," made by children throughout the Eau Claire area, to present to the President of the United States.

Some of her other talents and interests throughout her life included playing the piano, reading mystery novels, genealogy and animals. Throughout her life, she had a variety of pets, including guinea pigs, a monkey, dogs and cats. She would want her latest and best friend, Tasha the cat, to be mentioned and honored.

Carole wished the memories of her be happy and good and to let all her friends and family know she loved them.

She is survived by a son, Chris (Kaeru) Green of Tokyo, Japan; a daughter, Kathryn (Eric) Olson of Hanover Park, IL; a sister, Nelda (Glenn) Stuve of Humbird; and a brother, Bob (Rozie) Gile of Gordon. She also is survived by a granddaughter, Alayna.

Both her parents preceded her in death.
