Kurz, Henry J.A. #2 (19 JAN 1933 - 9 NOV 2007)

Henry J. A. Kurz, 74, passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, in the House of the Dove, Marshfield, with his family around him. A memorial service was held at 5 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the United Methodist Church, Spencer, Wis. Music was provided by Danny Oelrich and Ken and Colleen Kurz, with highlights by the Eagles, Lions, firemen, and senior citizens. Pallbearers were his sons.

Henry J. A. Kurz was the only child of John and Lydia (nee Hinkelmann) Kurz, born on Jan. 19, 1933, in his home on 26 Road. He graduated from Loyal High School in 1950. He married Christine Turville in 1954. They lived on the farm until 1979, having four boys and one girl. They fostered many children and adults. Some of the jobs he had included working for Spokeville Elevator, bus driver, for Wausau Health Care Center for nine years, then he and his wife went to Red Wing, Minn., where they worked in Treasure Island Resort and Casino for more than eight years as VIPs. He was Husband of the Year in 2004 and they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2004. He was a fireman for rural and Spencer urban departments for 17 years. He was a member of Aerie Eagles 624, United Methodist Church, Spencer Senior Citizens, and the Loyal Historical Society. He loved bowling, and traveling to Germany, England, the Bahamas, and the states. He enjoyed playing sheepshead and dancing.

He was passionate about his five children, Mike (Carol) Kurz, Kenneth (Colleen) Kurz, Raymond (Julie) Kurz, Lorena (Douglas) Schnitzler, and Corey (Mary) Kurz; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren coming; three adopted sons, Doyle Andrews, Ellsworth, Jeff Bath, Minnesota, and Joe Easley, California; and an adopted daughter, Ginger Church, Grand Rapids.

Survivors include his wife; children; many friends and neighbors.

Preceding him in death were one child; one grandchild; and his parents.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
