He was born Oct. 20, 1936, in Unity, the son of Harold A. and Fern E. Laabs Kasper. He graduated from Colby, Wis. High School in 1955. Later, he took a dairy course in cheese making at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and received a diploma for his efforts. Shortly thereafter, he passed the requirements for his license as a cheese maker. It is believed that he was the youngest licensed cheese maker in Wisconsin at that time. He made cheese at his parent's factory until it was sold in 1965. In 1966, he moved to Fond du Lac, where he was employed as a cheese maker supervisor at Tolibia Cheese Company until his retirement in 2003. He was never married.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962.

Surviving is a brother, Kenneth (Joanne) Kasper of Unity; a sister, Betty Ann (Allen) Nienow of Janesville; and nieces, nephews and very special friends, David (Mary) Porter and their family of Fond du Lac.

His parents preceded him in death.
