Marjorie Kubera

Marjorie D. Kubera, 82, Marshfield, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at Marshfield Care Center.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp.

Visitations will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home in Marshfield, and again from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services Saturday at the church.

There will be a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Knights of Columbus of Marshfield.

Marjorie D. Kubera, 82, Marshfield, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at Marshfield Care Center.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp, with the Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating.

Burial will be in St. Hedwig's New Cemetery with Scott Korn, Billy Menzel, Steve Kubera, Heidi Wilson, Tyler Berdal and Trey Les Johnson serving as pallbearers.

Visitations will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home in Marshfield, and again from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.

There will be a rosary service with the Knights of Columbus at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Marjorie was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Rockford, Ill., to Harvey and Anna (Wells) Gardner. She was united in marriage to Alvin C. Kubera on April 3, 1948, at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp.

Marjorie had various jobs in the Chippewa Falls and Thorp areas. She raised a family and was a mother to many. For 20 years, she was a house parent at a youth home in Neillsville, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Thorp for 57 years and a volunteer for 16 years at the Marshfield Center. Marjorie loved to travel and spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her gentle caring ways will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin; children, Jack (June) Korn of Birchwood, Sheila (Alan) Presley of Sedona, Ariz., Kathleen (Marvin) Lattimer of Auburndale, Merry (Barry) Berdal of Frederic, Roger (Judy) Kubera of Roberts and Alan Kubera of Onalaska; four foster children, including Kenneth Morey of Chippewa Falls, John Lee of Mondovi, Bernard (Darlene) Mesner of Marshfield and Marcy (Rick) Benjamin of Danbury; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by one brother, Richard Gardner of Machesney Park, Ill.; five sisters, Barbara Olsen of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Helen (Kenneth) Strand of Sebring, Fla., Karen (Michael) Phelan of Rockford, Ill., Gloria Dowell of Onalaska and Cheryl Jasek of Trempealeau.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents.
