Uerling, William (28 Nov. 1866 - 9 June 1943)

Funeral services for William Uerling, who died at his farm home in the town of Colby, Wednesday morning, June 9th, at 11 o’clock, of old age and complications, were held at the Lulloff Funeral Home Saturday morning, Rev. Frances Brockman, pastor of the St. Bernard’s Catholic church of Abbotsford officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Harvey Barts, Rueben Schaffer, Armin Barts, Fred Zassenhaus, Ed Kroeplin and Herman Podevels.

Mr. Uerling was born at Chilton on Nov. 28, 1866, thus reaching the age of 76 years, six months and 11 days. He was married to Miss Ernestine Schaffer at Hilbert on Nov. 22, 1892. In 1904, they bought a farm in the town of Colby where they made their home ever since. Mrs. Uerling died on Sept. 6, 1924. He was a mason by trade.

Surviving are four sons and one daughter - Theodore Uerling of Marenisco, Mich., John Uerling of Grass Valley, Calif., Math Uerling of Westboro, Clarence Uerling of the town of Colby, Wis., and Mrs. Joseph Shuch of Shawano. Also 11 grand children, one great grand son and three sisters - Mrs. Gust Heinke of Oconto Falls, Mrs. Paul Kirch of St. Anne and Mrs. Jennie McCabe of Kaukauna, Ill.

The deceased was an industrious and prominent farmer of Colby, honest in all his dealings and was well-liked by all who knew him.
