Fricke, Minnie (14 Apr. 1881 - 11 May 1943)

Mrs. Minnie Fricke, a former resident of Colby, died Tuesday morning, May 11th, at 9:30 A.M., at the home of her son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Larson in the town of Rietbrook, Marathon county, near Edgar, cancer being the cause of her death. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Rev. D. Grether officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers will be E. Feit, Theo. Frome, Ervin Eggebrecht, John Pribnow, Jr., Bernard Tesmer and Raymond Tesmer, all nephews of the deceased.

Mrs. Fricke was born in Forestville, Door county, on April 14th, 1881, thus reaching the age of 62 years and 27 days. Her parents were Paul Tesmer and Minnie Haselow. She was married to Adolph Fricke in Colby in 1899 and they lived on a farm in the town of Hull until 1915 when they purchased the City Bakery in Colby from W. Fleischman which they managed for nine years or until 1924 when they traded the bakery for a farm in the town of Green Grove with H. A. Senkbeil. Mr. Fricke passed away in 1931. Mrs. Fricke lived on the farm until three years ago when she made her home with her son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Larson.

Surviving are four children - Paul Fricke of Curtiss, Harold Fricke of Denmark, Wis., Mrs. Ivan Larson of Edgar and Elmer Fricke of Chicago and seven grand children. Also four sisters and two brothers - Mrs. John Pribnow of Colby, Mrs. Augusta Olson of Abbotsford, Mrs. Conrad Orth of Colby, Bertha Dahlke of Portland, Ore., Paul Tesmer of Colby, Wis., and Herman Tesmer of Neillsville, Wis. Three brothers, John, William and Henry Tesmer, preceded her in death.

The deceased was a good Christian, honest in all her dealings. She will be remembered in Colby for her kindly and congenial disposition. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and Unity Lutheran church.
