Franz, Emelia (14 Apr. 1864 - 13 Mar. 1943)

Mrs. Emelia Franz of Abbotsford passed away Saturday, March 13th, obstruction of the bowels of one year’s duration being the cause of her death. Funeral services were held at the Christ Lutheran church at Abbotsford Tuesday afternoon, Rev. J. Brandt officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery.

Pall bearers were Al Goldamer, Chas. Sabler, Hans Amacher, Wm. Marge, Henry Franz, Clarence Gosse. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Al Goldamer, Mrs. Hans Amacher, Mrs. Clarence Gosse and Mrs. Wm. Marge.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Emelia Schueler, was born in West Prussia, Germany, on April 14th, 1864, thus reaching the age of 78 years, 10 months and 30 days. She came to the United States with her parents when three years of age. She was married to Albert Franz at Colby to which union three children were born.

Surviving are the three children - Mrs. Albert Wiedenhoeft of Colby, Mrs. August Belter of Wausau and Arthur W. Franz of Bloomer. Also three brothers - August Schueler of Abbotsford, Herman Schueler of Abbotsford and William Schueler of Portland, Oregon.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sill, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Nelson, Arthur Nelson and Julius Lange of Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Krone of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Franz and family of Bloomer, Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Belter and family of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pauls and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Marge and son, Roger, of Schofield, Mr. and Mrs. August Schueler and daughters, Elfreda and Minnie, George Gerth, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gosse and son, Maynard, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Amacher and son, Harold, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schueler and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Goldamer of Abbotsford, Wm. Schueler of Portland, Oregon, and Mr. and Mrs. William Grodtke of Mazomaine, Wis.

The deceased was well and favorably known for her congenial, honest and industrious disposition as well as her hospitable ways and was well liked by all who knew her who will miss her departure to the distant shore.
