Gutenberger, Freda (18 Aug. 1882 - 1 Mar. 1943)

Mrs. Albert Gutenberger of Colby, who had been a patient at the Marshfield hospital since Feb. 18th, died of diabetes at that hospital Monday night at 7:45 o’clock following several years’ illness. The body is lying in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, Rev. D. Grether will officiate and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery.

Mrs. Gutenberger, nee Freda Meves, was born on August 18th, 1882, in the town of Mosel, Sheboygan county, thus reaching the age of 60 years, six months and ten days. She was married in 1896 to Albert Gutenberger at LouisCorner. He preceded her in death May 21, 1942. They moved onto a farm near Colby in 1911 and in 1927 they moved to the city of Colby which had since been their home.

Surviving are four sons, Stewart of Nampa, Idaho, Elroy of Colby, Allen of Greenwood and Milton of Woodstock, Ill., a daughter, Mrs. Rudolph (Olivia) Schoelzel of Colby, a sister, Mrs. William Kattre of Kiel, a brother, Dr. Ewald Meves of Milwaukee and 30 grand children.

The deceased was well and favorably known to people of Colby, Wis., and vicinity for her honest and congenial disposition and will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Luloff Funeral Home for Mrs. Albert Gutenberger whose death was chronicled last week, Rev. D. Grether, officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were John Schlimm, Louis Sachse, Aug. Schoelzel, Ernest Schultz and George Tesmer. Those in charge of the flowers were Darlene and Doris Schoelzel, Rita and Eileen Gutenberger, Marie Wolf and Marion Dallman.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Allen Gutenberger and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bucholtz of Greenwood, Mrs. Wm. Kattre of Kiel, Stewart Gutenberger of Nampa, Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Engel, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ploechelman and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Leonard of Dorchester and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hake of Curtiss, Wis.
