Kleckner, Joyce (Marriage - 20 April 1943)

Dressed in a moss green wool dressmaker suit and a small brown veiled pompadour hat, with brown accessories, Miss Joyce Kleckner became the bride of Lieut. Robert F. Duckert at four p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in the pretty candlelight ceremony at the Dr. Hunt Chapel of Christ’s Presbyterian Church, Madison. Dr. Edwin O. Kennedy officiated. The bride’s corsage combined white orchid-iris and pink sweet peas.

Miss Bee Bradford, Madison, a friend of the bride and groom, and Frank Duckert, Rockford, Ill., brother of the groom, attended the couple. The bridesmaid wore a gold wool dressmaker suit with brown accessories and a corsage of lavender orchid-iris and yellow sweet peas.

Miss Gertrude Clouse of Fond du Lac sang, "Because" and "The Lord’s Prayer." After the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served from the wedding party and for the immediate families and friends at the Lorraine hotel.

Miss Kleckner is a graduate of the Neillsville High School and of the University of Wisconsin, where she majored in English. She was an outstanding student throughout the high school and college course. She took part in many school activities, worked in several departments of the church and studied music. After graduation, she became a member of the English department at Central High School in Sheboygan, her success as an instructor being as marked as was her work as a student.

Lieut. Duckert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Shipke, 127 Kensington Drive, Madison, Wis. He also was graduated from the University of Wisconsin where he majored in psychology. He accepted a position at the United States Veteran’s Hospital at Mendota, entering the service in August, 1942. He received his basic training at Camp Wolters, Texas, having just been graduated from Officer’s Candidate school at Fort Benning, Georgia. After a ten-day furlough, he will return there as an instructor in the officer’s candidate school. Mrs. Duckert will finish the year of teaching, and then join him in Columbus, GA., in June.

The bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Kleckner of this city, attended the wedding, Mrs. Kleckner going on to Milwaukee form there to visit a sister.
