The Helping Hand Society will meet Mrs. Grant Herrick on Friday, October 30th.

The Ladies’ Aid of the Ev. Lutheran church will meet with Mrs. Helga Kluve on Thursday, Nov. 5th.

DuWayne Bulgrin, who has been living here and employed at Owen the past several years, has accepted a position as fireman on the Duluth and Missaba Iron Range. His family will remain here for the present.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Laabs, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Laabs and F. W. Laabs attended the state cheesemakers convention at Marshfield last Thursday afternoon and evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Aschbrok entertained at a dance at the Cozy Club Curtiss Corners on Thursday evening to celebrate the former’s birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Julius Seibert of Appleton were recent visitors at the home of the latter’s sister and brother in law, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pudlas.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Binning and son of Minneapolis stopped here on Monday evening and was accompanied by Miss Marie Kraut on a trip to Madison and Chicago.

The pupils of the Woodland school, Miss Jean Cook, teacher, will enjoy a Halloween party Friday afternoon.

1st Lieut. Carl D. Matthias left on Tuesday evening for Chicago enroute to Camp Claiborne, La., where he is stationed with an engineer utility detachment after spending a short furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Matthias. He was accompanied here by his wife and son of Norfolk, Va., who will remain for a longer visit.
