Kersten, Lucy V. (2 Dec. 1879 - 29 Dec. 1942)

Mrs. G. C. Kersten, age 63, for many years a resident of Colby, Wisconsin, died Tuesday noon at Milwaukee where she was spending the Christmas holidays at the home of her son, Arthur Kersten. She became ill Saturday and died suddenly Tuesday of a heart attack. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Augustine’s church at Milwaukee and burial will follow in the Milwaukee cemetery.

The deceased, the former Miss Lucy V. Kraus, was born in Chilton, on Dec. 2, 1879. She was married to Gerald C. Kersten on Sept. 11th, 1906, in Chilton. They made their home in Colby where Mr. Kersten was in the retail store business until his death on Nov. 14th, 1941. Since then, Mrs. Kersten has made her home in Milwaukee and Chilton. She was a member of the Christian Mothers’ Society of St. Mary’s Catholic church and the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters, holding office in the latter organization for many years.

Surviving are three children - Arthur and Mrs. James (Genevieve) Farley of Milwaukee and Paul of Hauston, Del. Also two brothers, C. J. Kraus of Colby, Wis., and M. J. Kraus of Fond du Lac, one sister, Mrs. Emma Hanert of Milwaukee and six grand children.
