Chaplain Lawrence Sanger

Chaplain Lawrence Sanger, 85, Lynchburg, Va., died Dec. 6, 2005, at home.

He was born Dec. 19, 1919, in Chili to Ernest and Emma Sanger. He graduated from Marshfield High School, and then graduated from Wartburg College and Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. He pastored several Lutheran congregations in Wisconsin. He also had alternating terms as a chaplain with the U.S. Army in several countries overseas and last was a prison chaplain in North Carolina.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria Sanger of Lynchberg; three children, Cheryl Bartlett, Mississippi, Cynthia Gwin, Virginia, and Reed Sanger; several grandchildren; and two sisters, Evelyn Roehl of Marshfield and Mildred Saber of Neillsville, Wis.
