Johnson, Peter C. #2 (1 FEB 1861 - 9 MAR 1940)

Peter C. Johnson, 79, died of pneumonia Saturday morning at 11:20 o’clock at his home, four miles northeast of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.). He had been ill with heart trouble the past five months.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Johnson home, and at two o’clock at the Trondhjem Lutheran Church. Rites were conducted by Rev. M.K. Aaberg, and interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Surviving besides his wife are four children, Mrs. Lawrence (Julia) Anderson, St. Paul; Paul Johnson, Sullivan, Ind.; Mrs. Elmer (Mabel) Johnson, Greenwood; and Mrs. George (Nola) Kuehl, St. Paul. There are also 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Johnson was born in Norway, Feb. 1, 1861, and came to the United States when he was six years old. The family settled in Black river Falls and Mr. Johnson was married there March 4, 1889, to Gunhild Monson.

The Johnsons lived there a few years then spent a few years at Longwood (Clark Co.), after which they came to their present farm. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary last year.

Those to attend the services form Owen and Withee were Mrs. Charles Kuehl, Mrs. Axel Flaatton, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Thorson Sr., and Mrs. Alice Bowne of Withee, and Orville Thorson of Owen, Wisconsin.
