Boylan, Ella (20 JUN 1868 - 27 FEB 1940)

A lingering illness that has kept Mrs. Ella Boylan in a rundown condition ever since last August proved fatal to her when she passed away to her eternal rest at the home of her son, Kenneth, at Marshfield on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 1940.

Mrs. Boylan had spent a great portion of her life living on a farm in the Town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), and had a personality that made her dear and lovable to all who enjoyed her friendship.

Her body was brought from the home of her son, Kenneth, to Withee to the home of her son, James, where it laid in state. She had made her home with James since the time of her husband’s death, until two years ago, when she moved to Marshfield.

Funeral services were conducted from the Sacred Heart Church at Withee, Friday morning, where a Requiem High Mass was read by the Rev. C. Brady of Abbotsford, Wis., assisted by Fathers Gagney and Clemik of Marshfield. The body was laid in rest in the family lot at the Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Boylan, nee Miss Ella Murphy, was born in the Town of Harris, Marquette County, on June 20, 1868. Her husband, James Boylan, preceded her in death in 1931. To this union four children were born, James Boylan of Withee; Mrs. George Jensen (Marie) of Chicago; Kenneth Boylan of Marshfield; and a son, Carey Boylan, who died in 1926. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. John Barrett (Lincy) of Montello, and Mrs. Julia Barry of Wis. Rapids; one brother, Thomas Murphy; two sisters and six brother preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were Andrew Herman, Fred Scherf, Tom Haas , Ed Miller, Art Smasal and Harry Thorson of Withee, Wis.
