Tesmer, Esther Anna (Marriage - 24 July 1941)

The Green Grove Lutheran church was a scene of a candle-light wedding performed at 6:00 o’clock on Thursday evening, July 24th, when Miss Esther Anna Tesmer of Colby came to the altar, which was adorned with baskets of garden flowers, to exchange nuptial vows with Mr. Harold Leroy Horn, son of Mrs. Ida Horn of Greenwood.

The wedding march from Lohengrin was played by Mrs. M. C. Goetsch for the procession and Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiated the ceremony. At the close of the service, Miss Adeline Goetsch sang a solo, "Be Thou Our Guide," accompanied by Virginia Glasby.

Miss Lorinda Horn of Chicago, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor and Miss Lenora Tesmer of Milwaukee, sister of the bride, was the bridesmaid. Mr. Bernard Tesmer of Colby, brother of the bride, and Kenneth Herrmann of Colby, a cousin, were the bridegroom’s attendants.

The bride chose for her wedding a gown of white Mousseline De Soie Velveray, a princess style, with short puff sleeves and sweetheart neckline. It had tiny buttons till the waist line and a large train. Her finger-tip veil of all silk illusion fell from a tiara of orange blossoms and was edged with chantilly lace. She carried an all white bouquet of gladiolus, asters and baby breaths.

Miss Horn wore a gown of pink sheer net in a princess style with puff sleeves and light blue ribbon trim. Miss Tesmer wore one of light blue broidered net, a princess style, with a short jacket and puff sleeves. They each wore a head dress and a shoulder length veil to match and a wrist corsage of mixed flowers.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride where a 6:30 wedding dinner was served to the immediate relatives. Crepe paper and garden flowers decorated the house and the table with the glow of its candle light was centered with a large wedding cake decorated with a miniature bride and groom. The large glass cake stand was one which the groom’s grandmother and mother had for their wedding cake.

In the evening a wedding dance was given for relatives and friends at Wiedenhoeft’s park at Colby, Wis. Mr. Horn and his bride left on a trip to Minnesota and Michigan. After their return they will reside on his mother’s farm near Greenwood, Wis., where he is employed. The bride was employed in Milwaukee about two years and the groom attended night school at Greenwood several months.
