They came to the United States 52 years ago and settled in Pennsylvania where they lived for twelve years and then came to this community. They settled on a wild track of land what is now the Hugo Haferman farm which they built into a splendid farm by hard and diligent work. After this farm was cleared they moved onto what is now the Paul Schmidt farm, also in the town of Hull, Wood Co., Wis. Twenty-five years ago they discontinued farming and moved to the city of Colby, Wis. Seven years ago, they celebrated their golden wedding.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife and eleven children, namely - Mrs. Louis Young of Colby, Mrs. Anna Stichert of Sheboygan, Mrs. Otto Witte of Colby, Mrs. Amelia Amundson of Colby, Mrs. Chas. Hanne of Colby, Fred Pacholke of Withee, Mrs. Wm. C. Pacholke of Colby, Louis Pacholke of Abbotsford, Wis., Edward Pacholke of Eau Claire and Howard Pacholke of Colby, Wis. Also 23 grand children and 18 great grand children.

The deceased, like all early pioneers, was of a congenial and hospitable disposition, a good Christian and honest in all his dealings. He always performed his duties to the best of his ability. He was a good husband, father and neighbor and well-liked by all who knew him.
