Mattila, Elsie (10 JUN 1939)
Aqua blue net over satin, designed with a fitted bodice and sweeping skirt, was worn by Miss Elsie Mattila, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Mattila, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), Saturday for her marriage to Clarence Schultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schultz, Dorchester (Clark Co.).
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. O.H. Hoffman of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Colby, at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Dorchester before a large group of relatives and friends.
The bride’s fingertip veil of blue net was held in place b a tiara of pearls, and she carried a shower bouquet of white roses.
Miss Sylvia Kallio, Owen, attended as maid of honor, wearing turquoise blue net over taffeta, with fitted bodice and sweeping skirt, and a shoulder corsage of white and pink roses and sweet peas. The bridesmaids, Miss Ina Mattila and Leona Schultz, were gowned in pink lace and pale pink net frocks, similar to the maid of honor’s. Their shoulder corsages combined roses and baby’s breath.
Albert Schultz, Dorchester, Wis., attended Mr. Schultz as best man and Toivo Kallio and Harold House served as ushers. The bridegroom and his attendants wore white flannels with navy blue coats and boutonnieres of white carnations.
Rowene Gabriel, Owen, presided at the pipe organ and played the "Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin as the bridal party approached the altar. Miss Thelma Mattson and Louis Weisbrod sang "Oh Promise Me and "I Need Thee Every Hour."
Pink, blue and white streamers and table bouquets of cut flowers decorated the Mattila home, where a wedding dinner was served to the bridal party and immediate relatives. The couple greeted their friends at a reception Saturday afternoon at the bride’s home from 1 to 5 p.m. A wedding supper was served in the evening.
Guests from away included Mr. and Mrs. Toivo Mattila, Mr. and Mrs. F. Wilson and daughters, Dorothy and Norma, Mrs. Viggo Taurbo and son, Harold, all of Waukegan, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Anthony McGuire and son, Peter, Highland Park, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Curtiss Blodgett and Arthur Felch, Fifield; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schultz and daughters, Walworth; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Kallio and children, Stambough, Mich., and other relatives from Sheboygan.
Mr. Schultz and his bride will leave on a motor trip throughout the west and on their return will make their home on the bridegroom’s farm, two miles north of Curtiss, Wis.
The bride was graduated from the Owen High School in 1937 and attended the Evanston Business College at Evanston, Ill., for the past year.
