Papesh, Anton (1867 - 26 Oct. 1942)

Gorman - Anton Papesh was born in Yugoslavia in the year of 1867 and died at the Enoch home in Greenwood October 26, at the age of 75 years from a heart attack.

He grew to manhood in Yugoslavia and arrived in America some 50 years ago.

He was married to Miss Mary Fortuna in Calumet, Michigan, where they lived for some time and later moved to Duluth, Minnesota, where they resides for a short time. They moved to Willard on a farm in the year 1915 and he resided there ever since or until his health failed.

He is survived by one daughter Mrs. Anton (Antonia) Panyan of Duluth, Minn., nine grandchildren, and two sisters.

His wife died some twenty years ago and his only son Joseph two years later. Two daughters, died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Eli (Stiffie) Bogdonovich, died some twelve years ago.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 29, at 9:30 o’clock with a Requiem High Mass by Rev. Fr. Raphael Stragisher at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard and burial was in the parish cemetery beside his wife and son in the family lot.

The pallbearers were Louis Koschak, Sr., Frank Zupanc, Sr., John Dolence, Sr., John Gegorich, John Zupancic and Frank Kokaly.

Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Anton Panyan and son of Duluth, Minnesota.
