Lautenbach, Otto Frederick (14 April 1871 - 22 Oct. 1942)

Otto Frederick Lautenbach was born April 14, 1871, in the town of Grant. He grew to manhood there and was educated in the schools of that township. He was baptized and confirmed in that Fisher church.

Mr. Lautenbach was married on the ninth day of May, 1897, to Rose Riedel at Neillsville, Wis. He bought a tract of wild land a half mile south of his birthplace. With the help of his wife and children, he made it the nice farm and home it is today. He was a kind and lovely husband and father, honest and generous with his neighbors and fair in all of his dealings with his fellow men. His passing will be deeply mourned not only within his family circle, but also among his many friends and neighbors.

Mr. Lautenbach passed away at 4:30 a.m. Oct. 22, at his home after an illness of several years duration. He was 71 years of age. The body was brought to the Jaster Funeral Home in this city where it lay in state until Saturday when it was returned to the home.

Services were held Sunday, October 25, at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2:00 at the Fisher church, the Rev. Buth officiating. The remains were laid at rest in the Fischer cemetery. Pallbearers were: Herman, Henry and Carl Braatz, Adolph Lichte, Herman Schlinsog and Ernest Schlinsog. Two grandchildren, Marvelin Schultz and Ellis Wall were the flower bearers. The church choir sang; "Come Home" and "Abide With Me."

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and the following children: Victor, at home; Louie, Levis; Ruth, Mrs. Helmuth Schultz, Pine Valley; Laura, Mrs. Fred Wall, Neillsville; Hilda, Mrs. Harry Kuehn, Granton; and Hilton Lautenbach, Marshfield. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Those who came from distant places to attend the rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Lautenbach and daughter, Kayleen, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Butenhoft, Wausau; Oscar Lautenbach, Milwaukee; and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lautenbach and family, Marshfield.
