Markowski, Ida T. (26 AUG 1939)
A very pretty wedding took place Saturday morning, Aug. 26th, 1939, in a brightly decorated St. Hedwig’s Church, when Father Thos. Adamiak joined in the holy bonds of matrimony at a nine o’clock ceremony, Mr. Joseph Skalecki, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Skalecki of Bellinger, and Miss Ida Theresa Markowski of Stanley.
A white rug adorned the center isle of the church with palms on each side. The wedding march was played by Mrs. Nick Suchomaski, organist, and Leon Graikowski, violinist. Attendants of the couple marched in single file, followed by the flower girl, Geraldine Cukla, who carried a colonial bouquet, and Alex Skalecki, ring bearer and nephew of the groom. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Joe Markowski.
The bride was beautifully gowned in a white satin with a long train and wore a wreath of orange blossoms blusher with a six yard veil. She carried white roses, lilies of the valley and gardenias. Matron of honor, Mrs. Anton Cesafsky, sister of the bride, was attired in aqua blue with white accessories and carried gladiolas and white roses. Leon Popowski acted as best man and Miss Verna Markowski, bridesmaid. Other attending couples were, Steve Markowski, bride’s brother, and Miss Marion Kirally; Walter Markowski, bride’s brother and Miss Dorothy Przybylski. The bridesmaids were all dressed in full dresses made of white marquisette with aqua blue accessories and carried pink and white roses. The groom and his best man wore black tuxedos.
After the ceremony a reception and wedding dinner was served to about three hundred persons at the home of the bride’s mother near Stanley.
The happy couple will reside in Chicago, where the groom is employed as shipping clerk in the Sears Roebuck Co. there. The bride taught school in this vicinity for the past five years and her friends and the groom’s join in extending best wishes.
Guests from away who attended the wedding were: Messrs. And Mesdames, John Matonik Sr., John Matonik Jr., Ed Nieponski, Jack Tammer, Victor Nieponski, Tony Sikora, Anton Cesafsky, John Skalecki, Miss Violet Nieponski, Miss Evelyn Nieponski, Miss Emily Wojner, Leon and Walter Popowski, and Mr. Nastik Skalecki and son John, all of Chicago, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sobick of Green Bay, Wis.
