Slupski, Stanley (6 JAN 1864 - 25 AUG 1939)

Stanley Slupski, 75, was accidentally hit by an auto drive by Lydia Neimas of Chippewa Falls, on Highway 29 about three and one-half miles east of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) at eight o’clock last Friday morning. The accident occurred when Mr. Slupski crossed the road to enter the car of Donald Craker of Ableman, Wis., who stopped to pick him up.

An inquest was held in Thorp, Friday afternoon by Assistant Coroner, Dr. E.A. Peterson of Neillsville, Wis. The jury found the accident unavoidable. The jurors were: M.C. Boardman, Dewey Andrews, Geo. Zillmann, H.C. Conklin, Sol. Phillips and L.J. Snyder.

Stanley Slupski was born in Poland on Jan. 6,, 1864. He was married there in 1884 to Miss Sophia Hilewicz. They came to America in 1893 and located in Menominee, Mich., residing there for one years, and also in Chicago for three years, before coming to Thorp and purchasing a farm in the town of Withee, where he lived until death. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sophia Slupski, one son, Leon of Chicago, and five daughters, Mrs. John (Edna) Alfuth, Stevens Point, Mrs. Frank (Josephine) Hoffman, Mrs. T. (Anna) Zukanski, and Mrs. Mike (Elizabeth) Bonars of Chicago, and Mrs. Louis (Hattie) Dymek of the Town of Withee, thirty grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two sons, Louis and Thomas, preceded him in death in 1932 and 1938.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church at ten o’clock Monday morning, Rev. Thomas Adamiak officiating, and interment following in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were, St. Mikrut, John Nowobielski, Victor Lobacz, Geo. Zukowski, Ig. Przybylski and Joe Kaminski.
