Mrs. Joseph Osowski died at her farm house in the town of Withee on April 9th of a heart attack, having reached the age of seventy-three years, ten months and eight days.

Pauline Dettmer was born in Lubichowo, Poland on June 1, 1865. She was united in marriage to Joseph Osowski there on Jan. 19, 1885. Two years later they came to America and eventually settled in Milwaukee where they remained for eighteen years. In the year 1905 she came to Thorp with her husband and has resided on a farm southeast of the village since that time. Mr. Osowski died on July 7, 1938.

As one of the pioneers of this territory she took an active part in the job of land clearing and also raised a family of twelve children, two of whom preceded her in death, Peter in 1923 and Mrs. Ida Piekarz in 1931. She was hard working and energetic, to the end and always found time to attend her church duties. Her faith in the Lord was strong and her Godly activities many. She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis for forty-one years, and also of the Holy Rosary Society, serving as president of that organization at its very beginning.

She is survived by five sons, John, Casimer and Vincent of Thorp, Louis of Ottawa, Ill., and Frank of Milwaukee; five daughters, Anne and Clara of Thorp, Mrs. Rose Balicki and Mrs. Mary Donash of Chicago, and Mrs. Helen Kotecki of Milwaukee; two sisters, Ven. Sr. M. Davidica of Wesley, Ia., and Ven. Sr. M. Edeltrude of St. Francis, Wis., convent.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church at ten o’clock last Wednesday morning. Father Celestine Wisniewski was celebrant, with Fathers Jos. Rapala and St. Andrzejewski at the five altars.

The remains were interred in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.
