Althaus, Marian R. (30 Nov. 1919 - 27 Aug. 2004)

Dodgeville - Marian R. Althaus, age 84, of Dodgeville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Upland Hills Health, following a brief illness. The former Marian Brooks was born on Nov. 30, 1919, near Granton, to Clark and Elda Brooks. Marian was a 1937 graduate of Granton High School. Marian worked as personal secretary to the regional superintendent of Greyhound, where she met Maurice Althaus. They were married on Aug. 26, 1950, and moved to Dodgeville, in 1955. Marian was a dedicated member of the Dodgeville United Methodist Church and U.M.W. She was past Worthy Matron of the Dodgeville Order of the Eastern Star No. 39.

Marian is survived by her husband, Maurice of Dodgeville; a daughter, Marla Talley of Madison; three sons, Clark (Nita) Althaus of Kerrville, Texas, Garth Althaus of Dodgeville, and Scott (Diane) Althaus of Madison; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three special nephews, Thomas, Jack (Sherry) and Bob (Karen) Gueldenzopf; as well as other relatives and many friends. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Doris Brooks and Lois Gueldenzopf.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at the Dodgeville United Methodist Church. Pastor Rom Pegram officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville, where Eastern Star services will be held at 8 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday after 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Dodgeville United Methodist Church or Dodgeville O.E.S No. 39, would be greatly appreciated.
