Cottrill, Mary H. (13 Feb. 1921 - 13 Mar. 2004)

Mary H. Cottrill, 83, of 2230 14th St. South in Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Family Heritage Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Dennis Lynch will officiate Burial will be held in Plainfield Cemetery in Plainfield, Wis.

Mary was born Feb. 13, 1921, in Colby, Wis., to Kenneth and Emma (McMonagle) Hubbard. She married James S. Cottrill on Oct. 4, 1947, in Wisconsin Rapids. Their marriage ended in divorce.

Mary worked as an executive secretary for the Stevens Point Division of Consolidated Papers, Inc. for 15 years until retiring on Dec. 31, 1986.

Mary served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant in the WAC during World War II from September 1943 to January 1946. She served for the SWPA Theatre of Operations with the 5203rd WAC Detachment in Australia, New Guinea and Biak. She was a member of the American Legion Post #9 of Wisconsin Rapids and was a past president of American Legion Post #9 Auxiliary.

She is survived by daughters, Clare Cottrill of Providence, R.I., Marguerite (Michael) Macy of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Nina McLawhorn of Madison, Wis., and Joan (William) Wagener of Wales, Wis.; son, Stephen (Cynthia) Cottrill of Amherst, Wis.; and nine grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Virginia Arie.

Friends may call Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
