Karlen, Lena (1905 - 27 NOV 1938)

Mrs. Ed Karlen Jr., 33, R.R. 2, Stanley, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls, at 11:20 Sunday, following an operation. She was brought to the hospital Nov. 10.

The body was taken to Stanley, funeral services to be held at the Norwegian Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2.

Lena Sorenson, wife of Ed Karlen of the Stanley country, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls on Tuesday, following an operation. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Sorenson of Eidsvold.

She was born at Eidsvold (Clark Co., Wis.) on Jan. 1, 1905 and was married to Ed Karlen at Thorp, on April 26, 1924. She was a woman of charming personality, high Christian character, a devoted wife and mother. In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by five children, Clyde, Wilton, Eugenia, betty and Velva Jean. Surviving brothers and sisters are Mrs. Henry Qualman, Clinton, Iowa; Mrs. Alfred Brenner, Gilman; Fred and William Sorenson, Eidsvold, and Hans Sorenson, Brownsville.

The funeral was conducted Friday afternoon at two o’clock from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanley, of which she was a member, Rev. J.N. Midtlien, officiating, and interment took place in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: Nels Larson, Peter Larson, Nels Bye, Harry Boie, I.C. Myhre, Selmer Samuelson.
