Mary Rossman

Mary E. Rossman, 93, of Thorp died at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley on Sept. 29, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorp. The Rev. Daniel Welch and the Rev. Donald Sprengler will officiate. Burial will follow in East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike LaBelle, Brian Weeks, Tim Chatman, Larry Gostomski, Dustin Rossman and Bob Buss.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Thorp Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the church.

Mary Esther Buss was born March 14, 1914, in the town of Reseburg, Clark County, to Herman and Mary (Zimmer) Buss. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Thorp area. After completing her education, Mary worked as a housekeeper in Thorp and Chippewa Falls. She was united in marriage to Reuben Rossman on June 27, 1942, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorp. They farmed on her husband’s home farm until retiring in 1974, at which time they moved to Thorp. Her husband, Reuben, died Feb. 16, 1998. Mary continued to reside at home until moving to Morgan Plaza in November 2000.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was very active in the Ruth Circle, youth groups and prayer groups. Mary was also a member of the Friendly Homemakers and enjoyed cooking, baking, spending time with her family and playing cards.

She is survived by her children, Harvey (Judy) Rossman of Thorp, Linda Taft of Pleasant Prairie and Jerome (Becky) Rossman of Marshfield; seven grandchildren, Mike (Cindy) LaBelle, Lynn (Brian) Weeks, Derek Fredrickson, J.C. Oldham, Dustin Rossman, Sherry (Tim) Chatman and Tamara (Michael) Grozik; 12 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Kendra, Katie, Bryttany, Tye, Cody, Brendan, Ashley, Dylan, Luke, Ryan and Devin; one great-great-granddaughter, Audrina; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reuben; one daughter, Judith Zuelke-Pribbenow; one son-in-law, Fred Zuelke; one grandson, Bryan Rossman; three brothers, Robert Buss, Bill Roesler and Hugo Roesler, and four sisters, Gertrude Barth, Hilma Ramberg, Orlena Sprengler and Clara Knutson.
