Schultz, Rev. Adalbert F.W. (15 Aug. 1914 - 22 Sept. 2007)

The Rev. Adalbert F.W. Schultz, age 93, of Howards Grove, went to be with his Lord peacefully Saturday morning, Sept. 22, 2007, at his home.

He was born Aug. 15, 1914, in Neillsville, son of the late Ferdinand and Mathilda Kipp Schultz. He graduated from Northwestern Lutheran College, Watertown, in 1936 and Wisconsin Lutheran Theological Seminary, Mequon, in 1939.

He served as Missionary to the Chandler, Casa Grande, Coolidge, Phoenix and Mesa, Ariz., areas and then served the Cedar Creek and Canyon Day missions on the Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona.

He also served as pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monroe, Mich.; St. Paul's in Hale, Mich.; Our Savior's in Glennie, Mich.; Woodlawn Lutheran in West Allis; and for 26 years as pastor at Zion Lutheran Church, Louis Corners (rural Kiel), retiring in 1988.

Adalbert married the former Helen M. Fish on Oct. 28, 1943, in Whiteriver, Arizona. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Howards Grove.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Helen, of Howards Grove; seven children, Judith (Richard) Tonak of Lakeville, Minn., Frederick (Barbara) Schultz of New Franken, Myra (David) Heling of Howards Grove, Martha (David) Yonke of Sheboygan, Lydia (William) Bitter of Ripon, Edward (Anne) Schultz of Austin, Texas, and Laura (Kevin) Behnke of Kaukauna.

He is further survived by 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Dutton of Tombstone, Ariz., Cordelia Wenslaff of Milwaukee, and Anita Snyder of West Allis; two brothers, the Rev. Ronald Schultz of Berlin, Wis., and Loran Schultz of West Bend; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Theodore; three granddaughters, Jessica Oner, Abigail Yonke and Angela Behnke; a great-grandchild, Ella Dailey; one brother, Ferdinand Schultz; and four sisters, Mathilda Bryski, Esther Mogden, Lillian Russow and Ruth Nash.

The Rev. Schultz was a devoted Fisher of Men for Christ, humorist and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed.

A celebration of the Rev. Schultz's life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Howards Grove with the Rev. Tom Unke officiating. Visitation will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Howards Grove from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services with fellowship to follow immediately after the service. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Louis Corners, rural Kiel.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Adie's name for St. Paul's Outreach.

Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home in Kiel is in charge of arrangements.
