Schmutzler, Emma Clara (4 Mar. 1872 - 23 Jan. 1938)

Mrs. Frank Schmutzler died at Urbana, Ill., Sunday morning at 12:30 and burial was made at Beaver Dam Wednesday. The deceased lived on a farm in the town of Hull for about twelve years and she and her family left this community about six years ago. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons and one daughter - Herbert, Eugene and Ruth.

Mrs. Frank Schmutzler, a former resident of this community and whose death was reported last week, died January 23 at her home in Urbana, Ill. Death resulted from an attack of heart trouble.

Emma Clara Zimmerman was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Zimmermann and was born at Fall River, Wis., on March 4th, 1872. Early in life she moved to Beaver Dam, attending Beaver Dam public schools. She was united in marriage to Frank A. Schmutzler on October 3rd, 1895. They continued to make Beaver Dam their home until the fall of 1919 when they moved to Colby. Twelve years later they went to Urbana to reside.

Surviving are her husband and three children, Ruth of Urbana and Herbert and Eugene of Beaver Dam. There are also three brothers and three sisters surviving, Albert and Louis Zimmermann and Mrs. A. R. Radtke of Beaver Dam, W. C. Zimmermann of Milwaukee, Mrs. O. A. Knehans of Cape Ciradeau, Mo., and Mrs. Edward Knehans of St. Paul, Minn.

Private funeral services were held at the Briese & Heilman funeral home at Beaver Dam Thursday, January 27, and were followed by services at the Bethel Methodist church. The services were conducted by Rev. J. T. Bowden and internment was in Oakwood cemetery.

The deceased will be remembered by Colby people as one who always took a great deal of interest in community affairs and her kindly and friendly disposition won many friends for her who are sorry to hear of her departure to the distant shore.
