Frost, Anne (12 JAN 1855 - 31 MAY 1938)

Mrs. Anne Frost, one of the early pioneers of the Danish Colony at Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) and a resident of this community for nearly half a century, passed away at her home in Withee Tuesday, May 31, 1938. Mrs. Frost was 83 years of age.

She was born on Jan. 12, 1855, in Denmark, in later years she came to America and on July 16, 1890, was united in marriage to Peter Frost at Cedar Falls, Ia. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Frost, three sons, J.C. Frost, Portland, Ore.; Arthur E. Frost, Dannevang, Tex.; and Alfred of Withee; and two daughters, Mrs. Edwin Hansen, Marlette, Mich.; and Mrs. H. Mailand of Withee. Mr. and Mrs. Frost and their family moved from Cedar Falls, Ia., to Chicago, where they made their home for 12 years. In the year of 1893 they were one of the three families that moved to Withee and pioneered and established the founding of the Danish colony there. The other families to move to Withee with the Frosts were the Rev. Christian Nielsen and J. Jorgensen families.

Mrs. Frost was very much of a home woman, making it her chief interest to make the home a beautiful, loving and happy place in which to live. Her interest centered on her family and the church. She was always active in church society work.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 3, from the Danish Church at Withee. Rev. Holst of Withee and Rev. Edwin Hansen of Marlette, Mich., a son-in-law of the deceased, will officiate at the service. Interment will be made in the Danish Cemetery.

The loss of such a dear and understanding soul who has been a builder of such a sound foundation of a flourishing community as was Mrs. Frost, will be keenly felt by those of the community.
