Staffeil, William K. (2 Jan. 1875 - 21 Sept. 1937)

Wm. K. Staffeil, a prominent farmer of the town of Colby, died Tuesday afternoon at 3:30, heart trouble being the cause of his departure to the distant shore. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 o’clock at the home and at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating.

Mr. Staffeil was born in Germany January 2, 1875, and came to the United States with his parents when a baby. They settled at Watertown, Wis., where the deceased grew to manhood. In 1901 he moved to Abbotsford where he worked at the railroad round house for eight years. He was married to Emma Dins at Colby on January 24, 1907. They moved onto their present farm in February, 1909, which at that time had but a few acres of land cleared, but, by diligent and hard work, built a splendid farm.

The deceased is survived by his widow and five children, namely - Mrs. Gerhardt Schmidt of Abbotsford, Alice at home, Mrs. John Bowen of Withee, Leona and Roger, at home. Also three great grand children and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. John Allen of Oconomowoc, Julius Staffeil of Watertown, Mrs. Fred Hess of Watertown, and Mrs. John Schroeder of Oconomowoc.

Mr. Staffeil had been ill with a lung ailment since last December, and, this spring and summer, had been feeling better, but Monday he was stricken with a heart ailment. He was numbered among the prominent farmers of this community, a good Christian, a kind husband and father and a good neighbor.
