Davis, Allie (24 Sept. 1866 - 5 Mar. 1937)

Funeral services for Mrs. Allie Gwin Davis, pioneer of Curtiss, to whom a heart attack proved fatal Friday morning shortly after midnight at her home eight miles north of Curtiss, were conducted Monday afternoon at the Curtiss congregational church, Rev. James LeCount of Dorchester officiating, and internment was made in Pine Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Davis, whose maiden name was Allie Gwin, was born on Sept. 24, 1866 at Parishville, N. Y. Her father was a Civil War veteran and died soon after her birth. In 1878, she came to Wisconsin with her step-father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Packard, and a sister and located on the Packard homestead six and one-half miles north of Curtiss in Taylor county. For thirty years, Mrs. Davis taught school in Wisconsin, Montana and Iowa. She was married to Frank Davis in 1910 and since then lived at her present home.

Surviving are her husband, an adopted daughter, two grand children and three sisters.
