Altenberger, William (3 Feb. 1887 - 4 Aug. 1936)

Wm. Altenberger, a prominent town of Colby farmer, died at the Marshfield hospital Tuesday evening at 9:45 from the results of injuries sustained when he was kicked by a five year old horse Monday morning. He suffered a ruptured kidney, a ruptured lung and other internal injuries. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Saturday morning at 9:30, Rev. L. J. Lang officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery.

The deceased was born in the town of Colby and reached the age of forty-nine years. He was married to Mildred Engeldow at Neillsville on November 27, 1935, who survives, with his mother, Mrs. Clara Altenberger, and six sisters: Mrs. Martha Rahn of Colby, Mrs. John Tauschek of Luxemburg, Mrs. Henry Meier of Appleton, Mrs. Edgar Laux of Colby, Miss Eleanor Altenberg of Stevens Point and Miss Pauline Altenberger of Colby.

Mr. Altenberger was a very industrious farmer and always endeavored to remain faithful to his duties on his farm as well as to his church. The news of his sudden death spread rapidly.

Funeral services for Wm. Altenberger, whose death was reported last week, were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Saturday morning, Rev. L. J. Lang officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Albert Augustine, Harvey Kasper, Henry Lake, Frank Will, Tony Will and Ernest Kowalk. Flower girls were Dorothy and Myrtle Kasper, Erna Lake, Lorraine DuVall, Mary Reel and Zona Will.

Out of town people here for the funeral services were Mrs. John Tauschek of Luxemburg, Mrs. Henry Meiers of Appleton, Elenor Altenberger of Stevens Point, Mrs. Rosa Kleingbeil and Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Kleingbeil of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Eckhardt of Cleveland and Mr. and Mrs. August Bucholtz and daughter, Anita of Holcombe.
