Hood, Arieatta M. (20 Mar. 1916 - 7 Aug. 2007)

Arieatta M. "Rita" Hood, 91, formerly of Marshfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at the Colonial Center in Colby where she had resided since January.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield with the Rev. Dean T. Pingel officiating. Harriet Brandt will be the organist along with congregational singing.

Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with relatives and friends serving as the pallbearers.

Visitations will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Rembs / Kundinger Funeral Home and again from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

Rita was born in the town of Marshfield on March 20, 1916, to Charles and Henrietta (Brickler) Tews. She attended Marshfield schools and was united in marriage to Eugene Hood on Aug. 28, 1938, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. He died Jan. 1, 1995.

Prior to her marriage, she delivered milk to homes and area restaurants. She and her husband operated a dairy farm and later raised beef in the town of Marshfield.

After retiring, she enjoyed camping, snowmobiling and traveling with her husband.

She was a second mother and grandmother to her many nieces and nephews.

Rita is survived by two brothers, James Allen of Marshfield and William Allen of Marshfield; along with numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Besides her parents and stepfather, J. B. Allen, and husband Eugene, she was preceded in death by two children in infancy, James and Rita Jean; and a sister, Fern Scherr.
