Gotter, Elmer (16 Sept. 1906 -12 Feb. 1942)

Elmer Gotter passed away at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 12, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Rockford, Illinois, from injuries sustained when he was struck by a motor vehicle Monday evening, February nine. He was 35 years of age.

Mr. Gotter was born in the town of Lynn September 16, 1906, to Albert and Emma (Motes) Gotter. He grew up in the home community. On January 18, 1931, he was married to Miss Elsie Strey of York Township, the family doing farming until a year ago last November. They moved to Granton about two months ago. He had gone to Rockford where he obtained employment, the accident occurring on the evening before he was to report for work.

He is survived by his wife and three children: Elmer, Jr., Donna Mae and Darlene Dawn. Other survivors are his mother, Mrs. Emma Reisner, Lynn, and by three sisters and a brother; Leona, Mrs. Raymond Sternitky, Lynn; Viola Gotter, Neillsville; Lovella, Mrs. Melvin Garbisch, Granton. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Eugene.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 16, from the Union Church at Granton, the Rev. Obed Asp of Neillsville being the minister. Burial was made in the Lynn Cemetery. Mrs. William Schmidtke and Mrs. C. Kayser sang three hymns "In the Garden," "Some Day We’ll Understand," and "We’ll Say Good Night Here and Good Morning Over There."
