Larson, Louis (1865? - 1887)

Louis Larson, an unmarried man about 22 years old, committed suicide by hanging, in his room at Ole Johnson’s boarding house on East Second Street, last Thursday night. He went to bed about 10 o’clock, apparently as well as ever, and not getting up at the usual hour in the morning the landlord went to his room and found his hanging from a rope attached to a window casing. The rope had been use for drying clothes. Larson made a loop of one end, placed it around his neck and lying on the bed, had thrown his weight onto this neck until he strangled to death. He could have raised himself and prevented choking at any time after his neck was in the rope, but it seems he was determined to died. An inquest was held by Justice Ure, and a verdict of death at his own hands rendered, without any cause being assigned for his self destruction.
