Laabs, Alfred (Sept 4, 1932 - Aug 13, 2007)

COLBY -- Alfred Laabs, 74, Colby, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at InnCare of Abbotsford, Wis.

Memorial services will be at noon on Saturday at Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, Wis. The Rev. Mark Schwinn will officiate. Inurnment will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Alfred was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Milan to Albert and Alvina (Awe) Laabs. He attended country schools and Owen High School. Alfred and Harriet Gosse were married Nov. 29, 1952. They farmed in the Owen area and moved to the city of Colby in 1994. He loved to polka dance.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Harriet of Colby; one daughter, Nancy (Thomas) Anen of Wisconsin Dells; two sons, David (Jane) Laabs of Owen and Brian (Alison) Laabs of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Travis Anen, Tracy Anen, Emma Laabs and Zoey Marie Laabs; two brothers, Milton (Yolunda) Laabs of Gillett and Marlyn (Priscilla) Laabs of Marshfield, and two sisters, Jeanette Geffree of Minneapolis, and Joanne Laabs of Thorp.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Alton.
