Meyers, Alice A. (1 Feb. 1864 - 15 Nov. 1934)

Mrs. A. J. Meyers of Abbotsford passed away last Thursday, Nov. 15, at 1:00 p.m., a stroke being the cause of her departure to the distant shore. Impressive services were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday, Nov. 18, Rev. L. C. Smith officiating, and internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery. The pall bearers were O. Hughes, A. Ireland, W. Wults, E. Minchell, F. Wing and P. Waech. Mrs. Folstead, soloist, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Someday."

The deceased was born in Cazenovia, Wis., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Kelley, Feb. 1, 1864, thus reaching the age of seventy years, nine months and fifteen days, and came to this locality forty-two years ago. She was married to August Joseph Meyers at Abbotsford in 1892 and they made their home in Abbotsford ever since.

She was a good Christian and took an active interest in local affairs, holding the office of village clerk for two years and was a member of the school board for two years. She was also a member of the W.B.A. Rebecca and W.R.C. Like all our early pioneers she was of congenial and hospitable disposition but held strong convictions for the betterment of her community, and, after a long, busy and useful life, she died as she had lived - honored, trusted and loved.

She is survived by her husband and three children, namely - Mrs. W. S. Hamblin of Downers Grove, Ill., Mrs. R. J. Johnson of Menasha, Wis., and Don Meyers of Los Angeles, Cal. Also two sisters and one brother - Mrs. J. W. Sweeney of Denver, Colo., Mrs. F. J. Hall of Oakland, Cal., and Mr. E. Kelley of Seattle, Wash.
