Scheel, Ralph (3 Sept. 1908 - 2 Feb. 1984)

Colby - Services for Ralph Scheel, 75, formerly of the Colby area who died Saturday morning at River Pines Health Care Center in Stevens Point, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Rux Funeral Home in Colby.

The Rev. Brian Kuehmichael will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Nephews will be pallbearers.

Visitation at the funeral home will be after 4 p.m. today, and Tuesday until service time.

He was born Sept. 3, 1908 in the Town of Green Grove, Clark County, to the late Mr. and Mrs. William (Martha Katterman) Scheel. He received his education in Loyal schools. He married Farrell Clark Aug. 19, 1931 in Illinois; she died in 1960. On June 26, 1965 he married Alma Flink; she survives.

He was owner and operator of Spring Valley Cheese Factory, east of Colby, for 17 years. He also operated the Abbotsford Café in Abbotsford for five years, Scheel’s Westside Grocery Store in Colby for a short time; worked as a truck driver for several years, and was employed at Pathfinder Inc. of Spencer until retiring in 1973.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Wanda Nolan of Caro Stream, Ill., and Mrs. Leroy (Marthel) Hainzelsperger of Stevens Point; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank of Tennessee, Roland of Ohio and Lawrence of Texas, and three sisters, Mrs. Jerome (Etta) VanDreel of Tripoli, Mrs. Ray (Minnie) Lapp of Westboro and Mrs. Sophia Schulhauser of Marshfield.

He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
