Ewert, Oscar F. (2 Sept. 1900 - 6 Nov. 1972)

Oscar F. Ewert, 72, of 213 N. Maple Ave., died at noon Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he had been a patient the past seven weeks.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rembs Chapel. The Rev. James J. Hagmann, associate pastor of St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield, will officiate and burial will be made in Gate of Heaven cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Mr. Ewert was born Sept. 2, 1900, in Unity and received his education in the Unity schools. He spent his childhood years in the Unity area and then moved to Milwaukee to work.

He was married Feb. 15, 1926, at Gesu Catholic Church in Milwaukee to the former Delma A. Weber, who survives him. They resided in Milwaukee for a few years and then relocated in Unity. In 1944 they moved to Marshfield where he had been employed at Felker Brothers Manufacturing Company until his retirement in 1966.

Other survivors include a son, Robert, Kalispell, Mont., five daughters, Mrs. Jerome (Beverly) Curtin, rural Arpin; Mrs. Rudy (Marion) Krane, Mauston; Mrs. Arlyn (Shirley) Bruesewitz, rural Unity; Mrs. Neil (Maxine) Peterson, West Bend; and Mrs. Galen (Diane) Bauer, Milwaukee; 26 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Ralph Scheel, Marshfield; Mrs. Harriet Peterson, Neillsville; Mrs. Clara Firnstahl, and Mrs. Anna Ewert, both of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Miss Mimm Liepert, Chicago.

He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rembs Chapel for Oscar F. Ewert, of 213 N. Maple Ave., who died Monday.

The Rev. James J. Hagmann, associate pastor of St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield, officiated and internment was made in the Gate of Heaven cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Curtin, Robert Curtin, Ronald Curtin, Russell Jacobi, Kenneth Bruesewitz, and Kerry Krane.

Miss Sarah Kleiber sang "O Rest in the Lord," and "Hear, O Lord." She was accompanied by Miss Ellen Rasmussen.
