Heimstead, Estelle "Stella" M. (February 25, 1952 - July 4, 2007)

Estelle M. "Stella" Heimstead, age 55, 1821 East Becker Road, Marshfield, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at her home.

Stella was born on Feb. 25, 1952 in Marshfield, to Milton "Bud" and Pearl (Ledger) Rand. She was a 1970 graduate of Granton High School. She married Douglas R. Heimstead on Oct. 31, 1970. He died on Nov. 5, 1985.

She and her husband owned and operated The Other Place tavern in Neillsville, Wis. After the death of her husband Stella moved to Marshfield in 1986. She attended Mid-State Technical College and in 1989 she moved to Kenosha where she continued her education at Gateway Technical College. She also volunteered in the library at Somers Elementary School, Kenosha. In 1994 she returned to Marshfield and worked at the Marshfield Public Library and later at the Marshfield Clinic Medical Library until recently.

She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, spending time with her children and playing with her grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Shannon (Tim) Schoolman, of Spencer; Denise Heimstead, of Stevens Point; Heidi Heimstead, of Spencer; and Angel Heimstead, of Stevens Point. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jalen Hanson, Meleena Schoolman, Seth Schoolman and a granddaughter is expected in September. She is further survived by six brothers and two sisters, Howard (Carol) Rand, of Marshfield; David (Kazuko) Rand, of Shawano; Gary (Becky) Rand, of St. Joseph, MN; Mark (Diane) Rand, of Spencer; Terry (Sharon) Rand, of Willard; Marilyn (Johnny) Scott, of Radcliffe, KY; Eugene Rand, of Redding, CA; and Elisabeth "Betty" (Randy) Ramker, of Marshfield.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband.

A Memorial celebration was held on Monday, July 9, 2007, at Wildwood Station, Marshfield.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a favorite perennial plant or shrub to be used in a future garden.
