Retiz & Haugen
The business conducted by the above firm has experience a steady, solid growth. Six years ago Mr. Reitz opened a tailoring shop on a very small scale over the room now occupied by Berg & Johnson. His means were limited, but by close attention to business, reasonable charges and good, honest work, he began from the start to receive a paying custom. After one year in the business Mr. Reitz formed a partnership with Mr. Haugen, and together they opened a tailoring shop in the building below the O’Neill House, at the same time buying a small bill of ready made clothing. Up to within a few weeks past, they remained at that stand, gradually extending their trade until it had grown too large for those quarters. A few weeks since, in order to secure better facilities for carrying on their increasing trade, they moved into Dewhurst’s new brick block on East Street, occupying the first floor of the building. Here they now display one of the largest and finest stocks of ready made clothing ever brought to the county, and still give just as close attention to merchant tailoring as before. Looking back six years ago, when Mr. Reitz first laid the foundation for the firm’s now prosperous business, and comparing the present well filled establishment with the little tailor shop in the second story at that time, one is led to look for the cause of the pleasurable prosperity of the firm. The cause cam be found in the energy shown; the long hours of hard work experienced, the "honest" quality of goods, the perfect workmanship, the reasonable prices, the honorable, fair dealing, in the full acceptance of all these terms apply. In their new quarters, Messrs., Reitz & Haugen will endeavor to give value received in goods, and anyone buying to them may be assured of paying only a margin above the first cost that will give the sellers a fair living profit for capital invested and labor performed. They invite an inspection of their stock.
