Palmer, Hiram #2 (25 MAY 1833 - 19 JUL 1897)

Hiram Palmer of west Pine Valley (Clark Co., Wis.), died Monday morning suddenly of heart disease. He had been out and attended tot his morning chores, and returned to the house, when death struck him down. He had sat down in a chair to rest, and died there.

Hi Palmer was one of the early settlers of Clark County, was most of his life identified with logging interests, and knew every foot of Black River. He held at different times various offices, having in the remote past been sheriff of the county, and more recently chairman of his town a number of terms. He belonged to the type of frontiersmen now rapidly passing away, and turning over to the younger generation the fair land their toil subdued.

Deceased was born in New York on May 25th, 1833; came to this state a boy of 18; was married in 1860 to Rosa Pucker; leaves a son, Merton, and daughter, Mrs. Jessie Scott of Detroit. He was insured in lodges, etc., to the extent of $3,000 to $4,000.

The funeral will be held today from the M.E. Church, at 2 p.m., under the A.O.U.W. auspices, Rev. G. N. Foster officiating.
