Manes, Mary Ann #2 (25 DEC 1806 - 23 FEB 1897)

Mrs. Manes, 88 years, died at the home of her son Dudley Monday night, of old age, and will be buried this morning at 10 o’clock, from the house. She had been in feeble health for a long time, and death was not unexpected. She was the mother of D.B. and Joseph Manes, and a woman of high character.

Mary Ann Manes died at the residence of her son D.B., aged 90 years last Christmas Day. She died at 1:30 a.m., Feb 23, 1897, and was buried from the residence on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. She was born near Paisley, Scotland, and emigrated to Canada. She was married twice, and the mother of eleven children, of whom seven are living, Dudley, William, Joseph, Robert, Mrs. John French of Dresden, Ont., Mrs. Simon Wagle and Mrs. Preadeau Wagle of Kingsville, Ont. Mrs. Manes had made her home in Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.) about 14 years; her husband died 12 years ago. Since then she has made her home on the west side with her son D.B. She had been a member of the Scotch Presbyterian Church since early childhood. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, and beloved by all who knew her.

The family wish their sincere thanks tendered to the friends who sought to lighten the burden of their great loss.
