Stoiber, Alvin (9 July 1918 - 12 June 2007)

Alvin Stoiber, 88, Dorchester, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 14th, at Maurina Funeral Home, Dorchester, Wis. There will be a parish rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 15th, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester, Wis. Burial will be in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery, Father Paul Gitter will preside.

Pallbearers will be Michael, Jason, Justin and Greg Stoiber, Jeff Sales, Jim Decker and John Johnson.

Alvin was born July 9th, 1918, in the Town of Mayville to Frank and Anna (Gabriel) Stoiber.

He attended St. Louis Catholic School. Alvin and Barbara Fischer were married October 22nd, 1947. Barbara preceded Alvin in death.

Alvin and Barbara farmed in the Town of Mayville until 1974 when they moved to Dorchester, Wis. He then worked for Berg Equipment for a number of years. He also served as Taylor County Electric Director for nine years, town clerk for the Town of Mayville for 44 years, Clark County Board member for 14 years and the County Agency for Aging.

He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. Alvin enjoyed fishing, card playing, gardening and bingo.

Alvin is survived by his children, Marge (David) Miller, Deltona, FL and Richard (Diane) Stoiber, Glidden; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother Clarence (Charlene) Stoiber Dorchester and one sister, Adeline Decker, Dorchester, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara and one daughter, Barbara. Racine.
