Mertens, Pearlinda (27 JUN 1936)

One of the season’s most beautiful weddings occurred last Saturday morning at nine o’clock at the St. Louis Catholic Church when Miss Pearlinda T. Mertens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Mertens, became the bride of Mr. Louis A. Scholz, Milwaukee, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.N. Scholz of the town of Little Black. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Clement Haines at the high mass during which the Leonard Mass was sung by the choir.

For the wedding the bride chose a ankle length gown of white satin with a long train. She wore a fingertip veil of white tulle, white accessories and carried a prayer book bouquet.

Her sister, Miss Marie Mertens, who was maid of honor, chose floor length gown of blue mousseline de soie with a picture hat and matching accessories. The bridesmaids, Misses Genevieve Rank of Milwaukee and June Springer, wore gowns of pink mousseline de soie and picture hats. All of the attendants carried shower bouquets of mixed summer flowers.

The groom was attended by his brothers, Herbert and Andrew Scholz, both of Milwaukee, and by the bride’s brother, Lawrence Mertens. They wore dark suits.

Miss Florence Sailor, the bride’s niece, acting as flower girl for the ceremony, was dressed in a long light blue gown of mousseline de soie and Billy Mertens, the bride’s nephew, attended as ring bearer dressed in a black satin suit of the Lord Fauntleroy style. The rings were carried on a pillow of white satin.

A wedding dinner and supper were served at the home of the bride’s parents with covers laid for 120 guests. An informal reception was held in the afternoon and a wedding dance was given at the local hall in the evening. The home was tastily decorated with pink, white and blue streamers, and cut garden flowers. Only immediate relatives and friends attended the wedding.

After spending the week here with relatives, the newlyweds will leave for Milwaukee where they will be at home for the present at 1425 N. Marshall St. The bride has been employed at Milwaukee the past winter and the groom is an engineer at a Milwaukee hotel. Both of the newlyweds attended high school here (Dorchester, Clark Co., Wis.), the groom graduating in 1933. They are both well known and liked here and their many friends join us in wishing them the best success and happiness together.

Among the out of town guests attending the wedding and reception were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Mertens and family, Jefferson City, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mertens, Harold Laur?, Herbert and Andrew Scholz, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Tennessen, and the Misses Genevieve Rank, Bernice Burant, Iva Bunno, Helen Evica, Rose and Cecelia Kronschnabl and Marie Mertens, all of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. George Mertens and daughter Lillian, Waukesha, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Simerson, Dodgeville, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Sauer and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Henrich and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clement and family, Mrs. Anna Bach and family and Miss Mary Lutherbach of Medford, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Henrich and family of Plover, Mr. and Mrs. P.N. Scholz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wordel, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Scholz and Mr. and Mrs. Selmer Olson of the town of Little Black.
