Becker, Conrad J. #3 (28 OCT 1935 - 5 MAY 2007)

Conrad J. Becker, 71, Neillsville, died on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at his home on Snyder Lake, following a courageous battle with cancer. The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville, Wis. The celebrant was the Rev. Woodrow H. Pace. Music was provided by Ronald Resong, organist and Greg Michaud, vocalist, and St. Mary’s Choir. Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council. Honorary casket bearers were LeRoy Kauth, Lyle Johnson and Fred Grap. Casket bearers were Jack Taylor, Duane "Fuzz" Briski, Tom Behrens, Jim Gelander, Chad Young and Norm Steinke.

Conrad Joseph Becker was born on Oct. 28, 1935, to Arthur and Villa (nee Loos) Becker. He was raised on the 26th Road in Loyal all of his childhood and attended Lyons School and Loyal High School. He then enlisted into the United States Army in August 1955. He was honorably discharged in August 1957, having attained the rank of military police corral. On Sept. 15, 1962, he married Marjorie Hainz, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville, Wis. He worked for Rollohome for two years and for American Motors/Chrysler in Kenosha for 10 years, retiring in 1989. After retiring from AMC, they moved to Neillsville, where he worked for the Clark County Forestry and Parks Department for 15 years. While living in Kenosha, he was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and enjoyed working for their home and school fundraisers. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville and was actively involved with its decorating committee. He was also active with the Snyder Dam Restoration Fundraising Project.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie "Marge" Becker; two daughters, Brenda Jean (Kevin) Cunningham, Racine, and Sally Ann Decker, Kenosha; six siblings, Donald (Barb) Becker, Marshfield, Yvonne (Jim) Gies, Stevens Point, Dianne (Don) Pergande, Brookfield, Sister Mary Decker, LaCrosse, Harold (Rose) Becker, Sussex, and Allen (Carol) Becker, Loyal; his mother-in-law, Florence Hainz, Neillsville; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
