Laabs, William Mrs. (24 Apr. 1880 - 22 Oct. 1930)

Mrs. Wm. Laabs, Sr., for many years, a resident of the town of Green Grove but who had been living at Greenwood, Wisconsin the past few years, died at the Chippewa Falls hospital of heart trouble Wednesday morning, October 22, at 3:30, following an operation for gall stone. Funeral services were held at the Green Grove Lutheran church, Rev. George Heilman of Greenwood officiating, and internment was made in the Green Grove cemetery.

The deceased was born in Berlin, Germany, April 24, 1880, thus reaching the age of fifty years, five months and twenty-five days. She came to the United States with her parents when two years of age and lived at Milwaukee for several years when she came to the town of Green Grove with her parents. Here she attended school and was confirmed in the Green Grove Lutheran church. She was married Feb. 28, 1899. She lived in Unity nine years, and, since 1918, in Greenwood.

Besides her husband, her departure is mourned by four daughters, three sons, three sisters, two brothers and eight children. The children are Mrs. Joseph Fenn, Oshkosh; Mrs. Walter Johnson, Cornell; Mrs. Richard Reinke, Curtiss; Mrs. Clarence Milestone, Greenwood; Alfred Laabs, Stanley; William Laabs, Jr., Greenwood; Franklin Laabs, Greenwood. The brothers and sisters are Mrs. Eugene Brenneman, Ray, Minnesota; Mrs. Carl Seckinger, Pontrilas, Sask., Canada; Mrs. Robert Fetter, Portland, Oregon; Will Mierke, Watson, Sask., Canada; Fred Mierke, Watson, Sask., Canada.

She will be remembered as being a kindly lady of a very cheerful disposition and the community of Green Grove and its hospitable people always held a warm corner in her heart. It was here the best days of her life were spent and it was here that her abiding place of all that was mortal of her was made.
