Aslakson, Lilas (25 JUL 1936)

Miss Lilas Aslakson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Aslakson of this village, and Mr. Kenneth Lindquist, son of Ephraim Lindquist, also of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), were united in the holy bonds of matrimony by Rev. J.N. Midtlein in an evening ceremony performed at the Norwegian Lutheran Church at Stanley, at seven o’clock Saturday, July 25, the bride being given in marriage by her father. The bride was attired in a floor length jacketed gown of aquamarine lace over taffeta, made with flowing train and a bandeau of gardenias. She carried an arm bouquet of speciosum album lilies and Johanna Hill roses. Attending the bride were Miss Agatha Lundby, a cousin of Rochester, Minn., wearing a floor length dress of yellow lace over taffeta with an arm bouquet of talisman roses and summer flowers, and Mrs. Chas. W. Schmidt, attired likewise in a flor length gown of pink lace over taffeta with an arm bouquet of Briar Cliff Roses and summer flowers. Both wore large picture hats.

The groom wore an oxford grey suit and was attended by his brother, Russel Lindquist, as best man. Two other brothers, Charles and Durward acted as ushers.

Little Gretchen Holstein, niece of the groom, was flower girl and carried a basket of pink roses and summer flowers.

The church interior was beautiful decorated with large baskets of white garden flowers and ivory candelabras.

After the ceremony the wedding dinner was served to friends and guests in the church parlor.

The bride is a graduate of the Stanley High School and Teachers’ Training Department and for seven years past has taught in Chippewa County Schools. The groom, brought up in Thorp, and a graduate of Thorp High School and University of Wisconsin, holds a position as Civil Engineer with the State Highway department. The newlyweds will reside at Hudson, Wis. Their many friends of Thorp and Stanley join "The Courier" in tendering congratulations.

Out of town guests at the wedding were: Lawrence Lindquist of Menasha; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Holstein, Neillsville; Miss Ruth Lindquist, Eau Claire; Miss Jennie Lindquist, Spencer; Miss Ella Lindquist, Milwaukee; Miss Lorraine Lindquist, Minneapolis, and Miss Amanda Johnson of Spokane, Wash.
