According to my great uncle, Blue Moon Cheese was started in Wisconsin and bought in the early '30s by my great-grandfather, J. N. Collins, who also invented the Walnetto. He apparently moved the company to Minneapolis and built a new plant there. The Wisconsin company had invented processed cheese. I don't know how long J. N. Collins owned it, but it does explain the thread regarding Minneapolis. There is some lore that it was sold to Kraft and became Velveeta. I don't know if this is true or not.
