Died, at her home in the village of Thorp, July 17, 1933, Mrs. N.P. Hansen, aged 64 years, 11 months and 18 days, after a lingering illness due to serious stomach trouble.

Karen Marie Larsen was born July 29, 1868 in Denmark, and emigrated to this country when a young woman. Some time after her arrival here she met and married Nels Peter Hansen of Thorp. The marriage took place at Withee on Nov. 25, 1897, after which she came to make her home at Thorp with her husband and his five children by a former marriage. Six of the seven children born to this union survive, Magnus, Albert, Einar, Margaret (Mrs. Henry Soli), Fred and Harold (Edward deceased in 1919 at the age of 7), and two grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Soli. Besides her six children, Mrs. John Christensen of Withee, Mrs. Fred Freitag of Racine, Mrs. Charles Clock of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Axel Lorentzen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Ernest Hansen of Racine, all children of the first marriage, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Tophus of Denmark, survive.

Deceased’s life was gentle, patient and persevering. Those who knew her well and those nearest to her will cherish the memory of her self-sacrificing disposition and her loving way of waiting upon those who were in any way dependent upon her. She was a woman of strong Christian character. Her one remaining interest outside of her family and friends was her membership in the Danish Sisterhood of Withee.

Funeral services were conducted at the residence at two o’clock on Thursday afternoon last, Rev. J.N. Midtlien of the Norwegian Church of Stanley officiating, and interment followed in the village cemetery.

The pallbearers were five sons, Magnus, Albert, Einar, Fred and Harold, and one son-in-law, Henry Soli.
